For enlarging the IPL franchises, the auction was set on March 22, 2010 in which total 12 teams participated including Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Cuttack, Kanpur, Vadodara, Kochi, Indore, Dharamsala, Pune, Nagpur, Gwalior and Vizag. From these 12 teams, Sahara Group was biding Pune team with highest cost of Rs.1,702 crore named as Sahara Pune Warriors alongside Rendezvous Sports World was on second big bid for the team Kochi at cost of Rs.1533.32 crores and it is Kochi IPL Team. Total purchase price of both new franchises is reportedly more than all original eight IPL franchises’ purchase price.
However just before two day of ending the BCCI time limit, Kochi franchise have withdrawn from the IPL so Cricket Board also issued a new tender for a replacement team. After that, the IPL Governing council was met on November 28 at Nagpur for talking about the withdrawn issue and for floating new tender. In this meeting, they decided to send a 30-day termination notice to team Kochi. And as a reply of this notice, the Kochi team promoters send a letter for considering the revised structure of agreement hammered out among them.
Later than a lot assumption, finally BCCI declared that the board was contented through agreements from franchise owners’ and they also announced that the team would also be part of the 2011 IPL Season 4 that kicks off on April 8 just after six days of the World Cup.
The changes of shareholding pattern of Kochi IPL Team were also appeared. As per new shareholding pattern for Kochi IPL Team, share of 31.4 per cent is held by Anchor Earth, 30.6 per cent share by Parinee Developers, 13.5 per cent share by Film Waves Combine, 9.5 per cent share by Anand Shyam, 5 per cent share by Vivek Venugopal and remaining 10 per cent share by Rendezvous Sports World. Geoff Lawson, the former Australia fast bowler, is appointed as coach of Kochi team.
During Indian Premier League IPL auction that was held at Bangalore, the newly formed franchise Kochi commenced to purchase cricketers for their team with bidding of Sri Lankan batsman Mahela Jayawardane at price of $1.5 m (RS. 6.9 crore). Then Indian batsman VVS Laxman was purchased by Team Kochi for $4,00,000 (Rs. 1.84 crore). Brendon McCullum was sold out at $ 450,000 (Rs 2.2 crore), S Sreesanth at $ 9,00,000 (Rs 4.1 crore), R P Singh at $500,000, Parthiv Patel for $290,000. The team of Kochi bought 17 players (7 Indian, 10 foreign) in the IPL 2011 Auction in which five specialist batsmen, six bowlers, four all-rounders, two Wicket-Keeper batsmen at total cost $8,640, 000. After looking at their 17 players, I really thought they wasted money blindly for 9 bowlers!!! Of course couple of them can be so called all-rounders(Only God knows). And there was 10 foreign players (In fact only 4 players are allowed in playing eleven). Then left out was only VVS Laxman (test specialist- no offending I salute him as a great player). And a hard hitting (is it?) parthiv.
I think the waste ever T20 team combination, I ever came across.
But after looking at their uncapped player, I forced myself to change my thoughts on these newbies. They have got some real hard hitting young guns. Raiphy a hard hitting batting all-rounder (really good buy). Also Deepak Chougule,Tanmay Srivastava, Sushant Marathe, Kedar Jadhav (really gonna boost Kochi). Now I can confidently call Kochi as a balanced team. Go kochi Go...... All d best :)
With d presence of some of d international players such as Brendon mckullum, Owais Shah & Mahela Jwardene ..d batting line up looks BOOSTING...
Team has got an decent Bowling line up with players like Muttaiya Muralideran , R.p Singh who d leading wicket takers in I P L 3...
The team pretends to be a balanced one...
But when compared to other teams such as KKR , Mumbai Indians & Royal Challengers , i think d team needs to work really hard to survive to d finals...

Thanks all the reader for giving your opinion but we can say anything about any team of IPL because all depends on team captaincy, managements, right decisions and players' inning in batting, bowling and fielding. And by the way the first IPL winner was Rajasthan Royal which remain looked like loser and not have enough good players at the time of first IPL Auction. So Best of Luck IPL kochi Team!!!

If Kochi team can bring in Dada in its team, he can certainly not only bat but bowl too to balance the team and make it win using his experience strategic planning abilities on the field on any given day. He is fighter and inject sparkling energy in the players. Who knows about the behaviour of Indian pitches and the strengths and weeknesses of all Indian and Overseas players better than Dada and this adds value to the team if it wants to win. Good Luck team Kochi. I am from UP and not a Bengali. So my opinion is unbiased. Even cricket lovers all over the world recognise Dada as comeback specialist. Every time he has been discarded due to politics, he has come back better with a bang purely because on merit.He is not a bootlicker and maintains his morale and is a man of ethics and principle. He wants to place competetive cricket not for money but to serve the interest of the game(he enjoys a princely state and does not need to beg for money).Let SRK remember that Dada was not responsible for his team's debacle in past as there were many controversies in the team management and most of the overseas players were not there when the team needed them. You can not expect Dada to win every match single handedly.SRK will realize that he blundered when he decided not only to retain Dada but to buy him during auction. Chennai will definitely win this ipl.It has a superb team captained by the real super king MSD.According to me Chennai are the champions and i am very proud to see them winning the ipl . Beating the best teams in the world they also lifted the Champions league trophy,the first team from India to do so.They have players like Raina,Bollinger,Hussey,Bravo,Ashwin,Plessis,Hilfenhaus,Morkel,Scotty styris and other local players!

Kochi seems to be a good team.But it has lots of inexperienced players except for mahela, murulidaran,Brendon McCullum and few more. Another twist in the team is that the team contains lots of weak players and test players.Ganguly ,lakman are capaible players but they dont suit for the 20-20 format.

sorry for kochi fans they not going to win ipl..poor selection of players,vvs laxman he cant be hard hitter,all burden is on mahela,so he will be in pressure,once again ganguly is not in kochi team .kochi asked for ganguly but all other team opposes the decision of kochi ,so ganguly is not playing this time ..wht this kochi selectors doing at the time of auction ..lot of good batsman r unbidden ..lara ganguly etc.. instead oframesh power and jadeja they can take batsman for cheaper price any way only option now is first change sreesanth from the team ..then we have some hope.atleast kochi can chase little score ..when we put sreesanth god knows wht happen........gud luck kochi
Kochi cant say their batsmen have to stand, their bowling is strong, still 10 wickets 20 overs, it will be interesting, happy to see all 4 south team in ipl, if pondichery and goa also have team it would be rocking.
