How to Change to Airtel using Mobile Number Portability in India?

It’s very easy to change to Airtel in India using MNP (Mobile Number Portability) by which people can carry on their present mobile phone number after altering their mobile phone networks.
MNP is available in India from 20th January, 2011 after a delay of more than a year. MNP stands for Mobile Number Portability, a facility by which people are allowed to transfer their existing mobile phone number from one mobile phone network provider to another mobile phone provider. With MNP, people can keep their existing mobile phone number after changing their mobile phone networks.
Airtel is one of the most preferred and reliable cellular service providers in India. At present, airtel provides an opportunity to non-airtel mobile customers to become a part of airtel family of over 14.5 cr mobile connections, and experience India’s largest network coverage and excellent customer services. Mobile Number Portability is very easy and quick to do. Mobile Number Portability is available only within the same telecom Circle so subscriber can switch mobile operators within his/her telecom Circle only.
Airtel Mobile Number Portability process takes just a week and costs only Rs 19. The subscriber can make another porting request for the same number only after 90 days from the date of the previous porting, in the case of the mobile number has already been ported once.
How to change mobile phone network to Airtel by using Mobile Number Portability?
People
need to create Unique Porting Code (UPC) by sending SMS to 1900 for starting the process. Upon the request, a mobile operator allocates 8 digit alphanumeric code, UPC, and UPC expiry date in MM/DD/YYYY format to its subscriber for making easy porting of his/her mobile number to another operator. After getting UPC, subscriber needs to visit his/her nearest airtel outlet/showroom and fill the Airtel Mobile Number Porting
(MNP) form by providing details such as current mobile number, current operator name, and UPC code. Along-with Customer Agreement Form, address
& Id proof documents, self-attested photo and last bill copy of postpaid connection, submit the filled MNP form.
Purchase the airtel MNP SIM card from airtel outlet/showroom. If port-in request is canceled or rejected, then SIM charges, talktime value and porting charge are not refunded. Airtel will send an SMS about the porting date and time on subscriber’s existing connection. Subscriber can continue to use his/her existing operator’s SIM card till this date and time. There will be a 2-hour ‘no service period’ between 12 midnight to 5 am during Mobile Number Portability process in which mobile service will not be active on any SIM.
Subscriber can replace his/her existing operator’s SIM card with the new airtel SIM card in the handset after ‘no service period’. Subscriber can enjoy airtel’s high-quality network, innovative value added services and best-in class customer service by using his/her existing mobile number after activating his/her airtel SIM card. My name is Sudhakar R, and my mobile number is 9043237328. i had given port out request form Tata docomo to Airtel on 17Th February'11. I have received an acknowldgement for receiving the request on 18th from DOCOMO , but then there is no improvement in MNP process even after eight complete working days... plz help me solve this issue since my UPCgoing to ellapse in this weekend thats 4th march....
And i had touch with Docomo customer care, and they confirmed that we have proceesed your request and its with airtel now...
Pls prioritize this..

AIRTEL is Rejecting my Porting Request but not they even inform me about the rejection by making one SMS.
AIRTEL rejecting my MNP application. Process of Porting started on Date:10/02/2011 and porting id given to me is AZ145472. Which expires on Date:24/02/2011.
I am using AIRTEL no 9096373776 (Nagpur,Maharashtra) for nearly the last 3 yrs . And i want to change my mobile operator Through mobile number portability from AIRTEL to TATA Docomo.
And i went to TATA Docomo show room and i submit my id proof and porting charges porting ID.
But i receive a message from TATA Docomo that AIRTEL mobile operator reject your porting . Then i went to the head office of AIRTEL (Dharmpeth area,nagpur) to know what is the problelm , they told me that there is no prob from AIRTEL side you have to contact TATA Docomo they havent complete the processes of porting ,so i again go to TATA Docomo office (civil lines,above icici bank Nagpur, Maharashtra). so they show me that AIRTEL had rejected my porting request so we can't help you in this.Then i again go to AIRTEL office and they again told me that thats not our resposibility they are simply delaying my complaint saying somany lies. from last 10,12 days they kicking me like footboll from AIRTEL office to TATA Docomo office but no onc can tell me the exact ptoblem. Actually MNP is a customer right. but here AIRTEL is denying that right for me.
I am planning to file a complaint in consumer court for compensation. it is big mental harresment to me. PLz help me....
about this problem i had called
at AIRTEL customer care at 121 . 198 , 999 number several times and also visit the customer care office at nandanvan and head office at Dharmpeth.

Your port-in request may be rejected by your existing operator because of any of the following reasons :
• Wrong UPC has been quoted in the form against the one provided in the SMS
• You have an unpaid bill on your existing postpaid mobile number.
• Pending request for change of ownership of the concerned Mobile Number
• The mobile number is under contractual obligation
• 90 Days has not lapsed since number activation
• 90 Days has not lapsed since last Porting Request from the same Mobile Number
• You have applied for inter-Circle porting
• The existing mobile number has a pending legal case
